ANKARA — The Assessment, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) has finalized its extensive administrative and logistical preparations for the 2026 Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS) Associate Degree level, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 4, 2026. This massive nationwide examination represents a critical milestone for hundreds of thousands of vocational school graduates and final-year students aiming to secure employment within Turkey’s public sector.
The KPSS Associate Degree exam is one of the largest centralized testing operations conducted in Turkey. The scores obtained from this exam are highly competitive and serve as the primary gateway for citizens seeking appointments to various municipal, provincial, and national government offices. To accommodate the massive influx of applicants this year, ÖSYM has significantly expanded its test center network and mobilized hundreds of thousands of staff members to ensure a secure, smooth, and fair testing environment.
Associate Degree Graduates and Final-Year Students Face Crucial Career Milestone
According to the official announcement issued by the Presidency of ÖSYM, the exam is open to candidates who have already graduated from two-year associate degree programs, as well as those who are currently enrolled and are on track to graduate within the two-year validity period of the exam results.
The exam will be held simultaneously across all 81 provinces of Turkey, as well as in Nicosia (Lefkoşa), the capital of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). In total, the exam will be administered across 160 designated exam centers.
The examination is scheduled to begin promptly at 10:15 AM. However, ÖSYM has issued a strict warning regarding entry times, emphasizing its standard "15-minute rule." Candidates will not be admitted into any examination buildings after 10:00 AM under any circumstances. This policy is strictly enforced to maintain the integrity of the test environment and ensure that all security protocols are completed before the exam papers are distributed.
The exam consists of 120 multiple-choice questions designed to evaluate the candidates’ general ability and general culture. Candidates will be allotted a total of 130 minutes to complete the test, with the standard session concluding at 12:25 PM.

To ensure equal opportunity and accessibility, specialized accommodations have been arranged for candidates with disabilities. Disabled candidates who have been officially approved to receive extra time will be granted up to 30 minutes of additional answering time, allowing them to complete their exams under fair conditions.
Over 1.5 Million Candidates Register as Female Applicants Lead the Turnout
In a detailed statement outlining the scale of the upcoming exam, ÖSYM President Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy revealed that a staggering 1,593,198 candidates have registered to take the 2026 KPSS Associate Degree exam. This high number of applicants reflects the continued high demand for stable careers within the civil service.
"To accommodate this high volume of applicants and to make the exam locations as accessible as possible, we have expanded our infrastructure," Prof. Dr. Ersoy stated. "The number of exam centers has been increased to 160, representing an addition of 25 new centers compared to previous years. Our primary goal in this expansion is to reduce travel times for our candidates, allowing them to reach their test locations with greater ease and minimal stress."
Prof. Dr. Ersoy also shared key demographic insights regarding the applicant pool, noting a significant gender imbalance among the registrants. Of the total 1.59 million applicants, female candidates make up the clear majority at 989,326, while male candidates account for 603,872 of the registered pool.
Geographically, the vast majority of applications were submitted from Turkey’s three largest metropolitan provinces: Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. Meanwhile, in Nicosia, TRNC, a dedicated contingent of 1,249 candidates will sit for the exam.
The exam also incorporates a range of social support measures and specialized testing environments:
- Disabled Candidates: A total of 6,059 disabled candidates are registered to take the exam, with ÖSYM providing tailored hall arrangements, adaptive materials, and specialized assistance where required.
- Fee Exemptions: Demonstrating the state’s policy of social solidarity, 4,293 candidates were exempted from paying the exam registration fees. This financial exemption is granted to military veterans, as well as the spouses and children of martyrs and veterans.
- Incarcerated Candidates: To ensure that individuals serving sentences in correctional facilities can still pursue educational and career opportunities, ÖSYM has adapted 110 buildings inside various prison complexes to serve as secure examination centers. In these specialized facilities, 488 candidates will sit for the exam under strict supervision.
Unprecedented Mobilization of Personnel and Expanded Infrastructure
The logistical scale of administering a single-day exam to over 1.5 million people requires an extraordinary mobilization of human resources and physical infrastructure.

The exam will be conducted across 4,443 distinct buildings, utilizing a total of 83,465 individual classrooms and halls. To manage this vast network of test sites, ÖSYM has deployed a workforce of 218,455 personnel. This includes hall presidents, invigilators, building coordinators, and administrative staff who are responsible for overseeing the distribution, collection, and security of exam materials.
Security remains a paramount concern for ÖSYM. To prevent any disruptions and to secure the perimeters of the exam centers, a dedicated force of 17,726 police officers and security personnel will be active on the ground. Furthermore, 312 official ÖSYM Representatives have been dispatched to various exam centers across the country. These representatives are tasked with monitoring the implementation of exam regulations on-site, providing real-time coordination, and ensuring that all standardized procedures are strictly followed.
"The entire exam process is being carried out in close cooperation with relevant public institutions and organizations," Prof. Dr. Ersoy explained. "Prior to the exam, we sent official coordination letters to all local administrative authorities to ensure that all necessary local measures are taken, ranging from noise control around exam buildings to the optimization of public transit routes."
Essential Candidate Guidelines and Emergency ID Support
To facilitate a hassle-free exam day, candidates are required to download their "Exam Entry Document" from the ÖSYM Candidate Transaction System, accessible online at "ais.osym.gov.tr". This document, which specifies the exact building, hall, and desk where the candidate will take the test, must be presented at the entrance along with a valid physical identification card.
Recognizing that lost or inadequate identification can prevent candidates from entering the exam, the Turkish Ministry of Interior is taking special precautions. Provincial and district population directorates across all 81 provinces will remain open on Sunday, October 4. This emergency service is specifically designed to assist candidates who have lost their national identity cards, do not possess a national ID, or have outdated cards that lack a Turkish national ID number or a recognizable photograph. These offices will issue temporary identity documents to ensure that no candidate is turned away at the school gates due to an ID crisis.
In addition to ID preparedness, the ÖSYM President urged candidates to be highly mindful of potential traffic delays. "To prevent any unforeseen circumstances caused by traffic congestion or transit delays, we strongly advise our candidates to take necessary precautions, plan their routes in advance, and set out much earlier than usual," Ersoy warned. "Arriving at the exam buildings early will be highly beneficial for our candidates’ peace of mind and will prevent any last-minute rushes."
He concluded his remarks by extending his best wishes to all those participating: "I wish the greatest success to all our candidates who have worked hard to prepare for this exam, and I wish ease of duty to all the staff members who will be working to ensure a smooth operation."

Post-Exam Timeline and Long-Term Validity of Results
Following the conclusion of the exam on Sunday afternoon, all answer sheets and exam documents will be securely transported under armed escort to ÖSYM’s secure scanning and evaluation facilities in Ankara.
According to the official ÖSYM calendar, the results of the 2026 KPSS Associate Degree exam are scheduled to be announced on October 30, 2026. Candidates will be able to view their detailed scorecards by logging into the ÖSYM candidate portal using their secure credentials.
Once announced, these exam results will remain valid for a period of two years. This two-year window allows candidates to apply for public sector job openings as they are announced by various government ministries and state institutions.
Furthermore, ÖSYM has established a protective contingency policy: if a subsequent associate-degree level KPSS cannot be organized or conducted on time in the future, the results of this 2026 exam will remain legally valid until the results of the next scheduled exam are officially declared. This safeguard ensures that candidates’ career opportunities and eligibility for public appointments are protected against any future administrative or scheduling disruptions.
